Matisyahu - No Place to Be

Matisyahu
No Place to Be

SonyBMG

A Jewish reggae star may seem like a silly Mad TV sketch, but in this case it works.

Matisyahu’s new remix album follows last spring’s Grammy-nominated Youth (which debuted in the Billboard top 5) with top-notch producers recasting past hits. “Jerusalem” gets polished by Jamaican legends Sly&Robbie. His slow dub-style tunes by Swisha House and Matis also add a couple new cuts to his catalogue alongside two covers of The Police classic “Message in a Bottle”.

But given Matis’ jam-band background, it’s no surprise he shines brightest on stage. This album comes complete with a “Live in Israel” concert DVD that handily proves why he’s no novelty.
